Brian Sullivan
Brian Sullivan
Brian Sullivan has been named the assistant coach for the Westfield State men’s ice hockey team. The younger brother of former Boston Bruin head coach Mike Sullivan, Brian Sullivan brings to Westfield a substantial playing and coaching background.

Sullivan graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass., where he was a football, baseball and hockey standout. During his senior season in 1999, he was an All-League performer in football and hockey.

Peter Laviolette - Westfield State Class of 1986 - has led the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals, where they will face the Chicago Blackhawks. Laviolette coached the Carolina Hurricanes to the coveted Stanley Cup in 2006.
As an economics professor at Westfield State College, Gerry Healy is an educator, not a storyteller.

The 12th annual New England sled hockey invitational is being hosted at Amelia Park Ice Arena in Westfield from April 16-18, and members of the Westfield State men's ice hockey varsity team are assisting with the popular tournament. It is the largest and oldest sled hockey tournament in the United States with 16 teams from the U.S. and Canada. Local teams include the Springfield Sliders (junior division) and the Western Mass. The Westfield State men’s varsity ice hockey team is hosting its inaugural “Pink at the Rink” Night on Thursday, Feb. 25, to help raise awareness for breast cancer.

The “Pink at the Rink” Night will be held in conjunction with Westfield’s game vs. conference rival Worcester State, which begins at 7:35 pm at Amelia Park Arena in downtown Westfield. Fans are encouraged to join in wearing pink to the rink and making donations to this worthwhile cause.
