ECAC New England All-Stars
Westfield State College sophomore Laura Chiricosta (Lexington) was selected to the ECAC New England Division III All-Star first team.
Playing the attack position, Chiricosta led the Owls - a third-year varsity program - to an 11-5 record. She ranked 15th nationally in scoring with an even 100 points, and was17th nationally with 77 goals.

All Conference Team
Three Westfield State College players were selected to the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) 2009 all-conference team.
Senior midfielder Rachel Costa (Reading) and sophomore defender Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills) were first-team picks and sophomore attacker Laura Chiricosta (Lexington) was a second team selection.

CASTLETON, Vt. - Nicole Adams, Stephanie Pearce and Marie VanDerKar each surpassed 100 career goals, and the Castleton State College women's lacrosse team earned the second-seed in the upcoming New England Women's Lacrosse Tournament with an 11-9 victory over visiting Westfield State.
With the win the Spartans improve to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in alliance play. Westfield State falls to 11-5 and 5-2 in NEWLA action. Westfield State will travel back to Castleton on Wednesday to square off in the NEWLA Semifinal round at a time yet to be determined.

CHICOPEE, MA, April 18, 2009 – Westfield State sophomore midfielder Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills, MA) netted a game-high five goals and sophomore attack Laura Chiricosta (Lexington, MA) added a pair of goals and three assists as the Owls soared to a 17-0 win over Elms College in Saturday’s New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game at Leary Field.
Westfield State (10-4) snapped a two-game losing skid and posted its first 10-win season in just the program’s third intercollegiate season. With the win, the Owls also remained in third place in the NEWLA standings.

Westfield State College sophomore midfielder Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills/Agawam High School) was named the co-player of the week in the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance.
In two games, Dionne tallied 9 goals, 4 assists for 13 points with 12 groundballs, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. She tallied 5 goals and 3 assists in 20-17 overtime victory over Fitchburg State. She scored the biggest goal of the game with 13 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into OT.
Westfield State, a third-year varsity program, owns a 9-2 overall record and a 4-1 NEWLA mark. The Owls have three road games this week at Smith (Tuesday), Norwich (Thursday), and Elms (Saturday).
