WESTFIELD – Junior forward Bethany Bush (Littleton) had two goals and an assist to lift Bridgewater State to a 3-1 conference victory over Westfield State on Tuesday evening, Oct. 6.
The Bears (6-3, 4-1) struck for three goals in the first 20 minutes. Bush scored 2:58 into the game for an early 1-0 lead. Stephanie Lannon (Swampscott) was credited with the assist.
The Owls (5-6, 2-4) tied the score 6:26 into the game on a goal by junior Alicia Gardner (Athol); she was assisted by Jessica Donovan (Methuen).
But Bridgewater quickly regained the lead 12 seconds later on Bush’s fifth goal of the season, following a rebound of her own missed shot.
In the 21st minute of the first half, Bridgewater’s Nicole Henrique (West Bridgewater) scored the game’s final goal with an assist from Bush.
Westfield out-shot Bridgewater, 13-9, including a 7-3 edge in the second half.
Bridgewater goalie Katie Weber (Arlington) made four saves and teammate Kelly Downs (Hanover) had a defensive save.
