CUMBERLAND, Maine - The Westfield State men's cross country team placed 16th in the New England Division III regional championships on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Sophomore Patrick Regan was Westfield's top runner, finishing 57th in 26:44.0. He was followed by freshman Anthony Frissora (79th), freshman John Dacey (111th), sophomore Jonathan Joyce (113rd), and junior Daniel Haryasz (143).

Forty-eight teams were in the highly competitive regional, with Williams running away with the team title (53 points) by placing five runners in the top 15. Amherst was second with 104 points.

"Patrick Regan ran well and we had a pretty good pack (of runners)," said Westfield coach Bill Devine. "The course for the men's race was very sloppy because of the rain and a lot of runners were slipping."
