SPRINGFIELD - The Westfield State women's swimming team defeated Western New England College, 138-118, on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Westfield evened its record at 2-2 while WNEC dropped to 1-4.
The Owls placed first in eight events; there was no diving competition as the WNEC pool does not have diving boards.
Senior Lauren Pellegrine and sophomore Jenna Tasse were double winners. Pellegrine hit the wall first in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breastroke and Tasse finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
Sophomore Kate Werner was first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
Senior Lindsey Malboeuf (50 backstroke, 100 backstroke) and sophomore Angie Wasyllk (50 butterfly, 50 freestyle) both earned a first and second place.
Also finishing first was the 200 medley relay of Malboeuf, Pellegrine, Wasylik and Tasse.
