WESTFIELD, Mass. - Hot-shooting guards Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) and Brian Inge (Fort Washington, Md.) scored 21 and 19 points, respectively, to pace Daniel Webster College to a 78-58 victory over Westfield State in the quarterfinals of the ECAC New England Division III men’s basketball tournament.

Daniel Webster, the tourney’s No. 6 seed, boosted its record to a school-best 18-9. The Eagles will host Rivier College – also from Nashua, N.H. - in an ECAC semifinal game this Saturday. Rivier, the No. 7 seed, won at No. 2 Colby-Sawyer, 72-62. No. 3 seed Westfield State finishes its season 18-10.

Daniel Webster was hot from 3-point range, draining 10 of 21 attempts. Hanson was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc while Inge was 4-for-8.

Westfield led 17-12 with 11:50 remaining in the first half, but Daniel Webster took the lead for good, 23-21, on a jumper by Inge at the 8:17 mark. The Eagles then outscored the host team 17-7 to take a 40-28 halftime lead.

Daniel Webster continued the scoring assault in the second half, leading by as many as 24 points, 65-41, with 10:22 remaining.

Also playing well for the Eagles was freshman guard William Kemp Harris (Suitland, Md.), who posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Daniel Webster shot 52 percent from the field and out-rebounded Westfield, 41-37.

The Owls only committed seven turnovers but they shot 36 percent from the floor, including 4-for-19 from 3-point range.

Senior guard Dave Jaehnig (Quincy) was Westfield’s only player in double figures with 10 points. Junior forward Drew Pereira (Seekonk) had eight points and nine rebounds.
