WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Laura Chiricosta had six goals and three assists and sophomore Rachel Dionne scored four goals to lead Westfield State College to a 19-3 women’s lacrosse victory over Rhode Island College on Thursday evening, April 2.
The victory was the sixth straight for the Owls, who boosted their record to 7-1. Westfield State hosts Worcester State in a key conference game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Rhode Island College drops to 1-6.
Westfield scored six goals in the fist eight minutes - three by Chiricosta and two from senior Kasey Rogers (West Springfield) - to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Owls led at halftime, 15-3.
Rogers tallied three goals and junior Ally Brown (North Andover) had two goals and two assists. Also scoring two goals was freshman Jen Lyon (Pittsfield/Taconic).
Sophomore Suany Almonte (Warwick, R.I.) scored two of RIC’s three goals.
