WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Laura Chiricosta (Lexington) had five goals and two assists and sophomore Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills) tallied four goals and two assists to lead Westfield State to an 18-11 lacrosse victory over Framingham State on Tuesday evening, April 21.
Westfield improves to 11-4 with one regular season game remaining this Saturday at Castleton State. Framingham is 5-8.
A strong first-half effort powered
the Owls, who led 5-1 after eight minutes and 13-5 at halftime. Westfield took its biggest lead, 16-5, with 25:58 remaining in the game.
Also playing well for the Owls were seniors Kasey Rogers (West Springfield) and Rachel Costa (Reading), who were playing in their final home games along with classmate Kaitlin Welsh (Wilbraham). Costa and Rogers both contributed three goals and two assists.
Freshman goalie Kaity Burns (Wilbraham) also played well for the Owls; she recorded a season-high 15 saves.
Ashley Noonan (Mansfield) scored a game-high six goals for the Rams. Kerry Kiley, also from Mansfield, scored four goals.
Westfield State seniors Rachel Costa, Kaitlin Welsh and Kasey Rogers, along with their families, were honored during Senior Day.
