Handcock Places Second In ECACs

SPRINGFIELD - Westfield State senior Caitlin Handock (Cumberland, Maine) placed second in the high jump at the ECAC Division III outdoor track and field championship held May 14-15 at Springfield College.

Handcock qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III national championships by clearing 5-5 3/4.

Two of Handcock's teammate - Marlee Berg and Kerry Arouca - did not compete in the ECACs as they are prepping for the national meet, which will be held at Marietta (Ohio) College May 21-23. Arouca has automatically qualified for nationals in the 3,000 steeplechase. Berg is currently ranked second in the high jump with a 5-7 effort. 

Placing for the Owls in the ECAC men's meet were Nathan Landry (8th, hammer throw, 163-10) and the 4 x 100 relay team of Marc Gomes, Todd Kittelson, James Flynn, and Michael Chapin (6th, 42.83).
