“After five games in a row on the road, today we had everything in place,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Nicole Castonguay. “We worked a ton on attack corners and we had a ton of those today. We worked a ton on backfield defense; we were super-organized, we played as a team, and that’s why we won.”
The Corsairs out-shot the Owls, 20-4. UMD senior goalkeeper, Seana Golden (Somerset, MA/Bishop Stang HS), made two saves to earn the shutout, while McCarthy made 12.
UMass Dartmouth improved to 4-4 and 2-1 in the Little East Conference with the victory, while Westfield State dropped to 4-4 and 1-2 with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Fitchburg State Wednesday evening. Westfield State hosts Keene State Wednesday.
