Westfield State junior Julie Messinger (Norton) and sophomore Jon Joyce (Milford) were selected Massachusetts State College Athletics Conference (MASCAC) cross country runners of the week.
Joyce earned the MASCAC honor for the second straight week. He finished ninth in the Codfish Bowl Invitational with a time of 25:50.0 on the five-mile course in leading the Owls to a sixth-place team finish.
Messinger was Westfield's top women's finisher in the Codfish Bowl Invite at Franklin Park in Boston, touring the 5K course in 20:08.6.
The Westfield State cross country teams are idle this Saturday, Oct. 10. They will host the James Earley Invitational on Oct. 10 at Stanley Park.
