WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Laura Chiricosta (Lexington) had five goals and two assists as Westfield State rolled to a 20-6 victory over Lasell College in the Owls’ season and home opener on Saturday, March 6.
Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills) added four goals for the Owls, who outlasted Lasell in overtime last season, 21-18.
With the score 2-2 at the 22:09 mark the Owls ripped off 15 unanswered goals for a commanding 17-2 lead 10 minutes into the second half. The halftime score was 11-2.
Transfers Becca Kelley (Westfield) added one goal and three assists and Carly Keeley (Feeding Hills) scored three goals. Freshman Ari Colella (Franklin) also played well with two goals and one assist.
Andrea Ward (Hingham) and Ashley Slattery (Weymouth) each scored two goals for Lasell, which dropped to 0-2 this season.
The Owls return to action Thursday, March 11, at Mount Holyoke College.
