WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State junior Matteo Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) posted a career-best 67 to grab the top honors and propel his team to the title at the Westfield State Invitational this afternoon at Tekoa Country Club.
Westfield State sophomore Matteo Godek fired back to back rounds of 74 to finish in a tie for fifth at the Wildcat Spring Invitational golf tournament hosted by Johnson and Wales University at the Cranston (R.I.) Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Ryan Koczela shot the low score of the weekend for the Westfield State men's golf team, as the Owls finished 10th at the 14 team Rhode Island College Invitational at the Alpine Country Club in Warwick, R.I. on Friday and Saturday.
“This is a great opportunity for our golf student-athletes,” said Westfield State director of athletics Dick Lenfest. “While we maintain our primary affiliation with the MASCAC, our ability to join in with the NECC to form a nine-team league will give our student-athletes a path to qualify for the NCAA tournament
