Owls Outswim Bears, 135-107

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –     Kait Kelly (Hampden, Mass.) and Kelsey Johnstone (Westfield HS/Southwick, Mass.) each won a pair of events to lead Westfield State University's swim team to a 135-107 win over Western New England College Springfield, Mass., on Wednesday afternoon.

The Owls won the first six events of the meet, and wrapped up a team victory when Johnstone won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.06, and the Owls swam exhibition for the final four races.  Johnstone was also victorious in the 50 breaststroke.

Kelly claimed wins in the 50 backstroke and the 100 butterfly.  Emma Rose Colcord and Shannon Fitzsimmons (Andover, Mass.) were also race winners for the Owls.   Westfield opened the meet with a team win in the 200 medley relay.

The Owls improve to 1-1 on the season in dual meets.  Westfield will be back in action on Saturday, competing at Mount Holyoke College in a dual meet.
