Bogli Named MASCAC Pitcher of the Week
Owls starter dominates on opening day, leads team to victory in game one
Westfield State's Shane Bogli (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) was named MASCAC pitcher of the week after his opening day performance against MCLA in game one of the Sunday doubleheader. The right-hander controlled the pace and tempo of the game as he hurled six scoreless innings while only allowing two hits, striking out nine, and did not allow a walk. Bogli was particularly dominant in the second inning, where he struck out the side on just ten pitches. Bogli picked up his first win of the season as his pitching effort carried the Owls to a 2-0 victory.
Bogli will be anchoring the top of the rotation for the Owls this season, and he picked up right where he left off a season ago after posting a 2.40 ERA in fifteen innings prior to the stoppage of last season. Westfield started this season 2-0 and their next games are Friday, March 26th as they host Framingham State in a doubleheader to begin conference play.
