GUESTS OF HONOR
The 2018 Owl Club Golf Tournament Guests of Honor are the trio of Bob Benn ‘78, Bob Mayo ‘78, and Jack Mosko ‘78.
Members of the standout Westfield State baseball teams of the 1970’s, this trio has led a dedicated group of Westfield State Alumni who have re-connected their strong bonds to each other and the institution over the past 12 years.
Returning for a baseball reunion event in 2007, this group reconnected with each other and extended their reach, regularly participating in the Owl Club Golf Tournament (and coordinating a group of up to 20 participants), other Westfield State reunion events, as well as their own alumni network. All active in their communities, their growth has been fueled by Benn’s involvement with the Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon Walk, where he initially walked alone, but has since been joined by a number of teammates and Westfield State Alumni, raising more than $140,000 to support the Jimmy Fund. Bob Mayo’s son Joe was a student-employee in the Westfield State athletics department while earning his undergraduate degree, and the tradition of charitable service continues this year as former coach and AD Ken Magarian will lead a team in the Run To Home Base at Fenway Park in memory of Bob’s son Zack. Mosko serves as a teacher and coach at Rumney Marsh Academy in Revere.
Bob, Jack, and Bob’s involvement and success provides a blueprint for all Westfield State athletics programs and alumni to follow in developing a base of strong alumni support for Owls athletics programs.
Reunite with friends, teammates, and alumni, with all proceeds benefiting the Owl Club, which supports Westfield State University's athletic programs. The Owl Club Golf Tournament is one of the primary fundraisers to help support Westfield State University athletics - annually alumni, corporate sponsors, parents, friends, and athletes compete in a fun-filled day of golf on one of America's 50 best public
GOLF COURSE INFORMATION
The Ranch has consistently been named among the best courses in the state since opening in 2002, and was hailed by Golf Digest as one of the "Best New Courses in America." This golf course was created on a wonderful historic piece of land. It's a mixture of open meadows and woodland, interspersed with beautiful creeks and a dash of wetlands tossed in to make each hole exciting and memorable. To successfully negotiate your way around The Ranch Golf Club you'll have to analyze each shot and carefully consider your options. There are many opportunities to take risks that will be richly rewarded if properly executed. The Ranch plays over 7,174 yards from championship tees.
