Westfield State athletics mourns the passing of Owls' Hall of Famer Bill Weber '75, who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, in Falmouth, MA.
A celebration of life will be held in the fall in Falmouth, Mass.

At Westfield, Weber played both baseball and basketball, but it was his pitching prowess that vaulted Westfield State College into national prominence in baseball in the 1970s. During his senior season in 1975, the Owls posted the best record in school history (32-8) and earned their first ever bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they played six games before losing to Montclair State in the Northeast regional finals.

The Dedham native played in the prestigious Cape Cod League during the summer of 1974 for the Yarmouth Red Sox.

Bill became a double Hall of Famer for the Owls this past fall, when his 1975 team was recognized as a "Team of Distinction" by the hall of fame for their success.
A long time Florida resident before relocating back to the Cape, Bill was a regular participant in the Owl Club Golf Tournament and the WSU athletic hall of fame induction dinners.
