Owls Cheerleaders Place Second in Nation at NCA Nationals
Westfield State University’s cheerleading team took home second place honors at the recent 2025 National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University's cheerleading team took home second place honors at the recent 2025 National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Owls finished with a score of 88.787, finishing two points behind UMass Boston and 1/10th of a point ahead of third-place UMass Dartmouth in the Intermediate Small Coed Division III section of the championship.
A total of 10 teams competed in the Division at the Nationals meet.
"The event was really well planned and on time and it was a great experience, our team spirit was great, and coach Humphrey checked in regularly to make sure every thing was going well," said Owls junior Jenny Cavalieri of West Springfield. "To finish second in our first time there was crazy!"
The Owls were coached by Emily Humphrey and captained by Takirah Clark and Ernesto Matos in the meet at the Ocean Center in Daytona. The team had a pair of practices in Florida before competing, and performed in a prelimary and then final round of competition for the final score.
