Owls Football Hosts Worcester State for Senior Day on Nov. 6
The game is the final regular season home game for Westfield, and the Owls will recognize the eight seniors who plan to graduate in the spring and complete their college eligibility.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State football will celebrate its 2021 senior day on Saturday, November 6, when the Owls play host to Worcester State.
The game is the final regular season home game for Westfield, and the Owls will recognize the eight seniors who plan to graduate in the spring and complete their college eligibility.
Defensive ends Noah Juaire, David White, and DaiJonn Cummings, defensive backs Danny Ladue, Chris West and Matt Hadley, wide receiver Jamar Johnson, and running back/kick returner Justin Jean-Charles will be recognized in the pre-game ceremonies.
Westfield State enters the game 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Worcester State enters 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the MASCAC.
LAST WEEK: Westfield State kept it close but couldn't get past Plymouth State on a rainy day at Alumni Field, falling 17-7. Gabriel Fernandez found Kordell Parrish in the endzone for a 9-yard TD pass midway through the fourth quarter, but the Owls could get no closer. Worcester State lost a shootout to Western Connectiuct, 56-30, as the Colonials' Mack Driver scored a school-record seven rushing touchdowns. Worcester State got 262 yards passing and four TD's from QB Aaron Moses-Williams.
WESTFIELD STATE ON OFFENSE: The Owls utilized a pair of quarterbacks in the last two games, with senior Peyton Capizzi splitting time with first-year Fernandez. OT Thomas rushed for 82 yards last week, and leads the Owls with 322 yards on 92 carries this season. Danny Farrell has 21 catches for 278 yards, and Anthony Cintron has grabbed 11 passes for 147 yards.
WESTFIELD STATE ON DEFENSE: Junior Cameron Danahy leads the Owls with 64 tackles on the season, with Cullen MacNeil next with 56 after recording 11 tackles last Saturday. Seniors White, Spinale and Juaire have combined to record eight sacks this season. In the secondary, Marlek Connor Jr. leads the Owls with nine pass breakups, while at the other corner Travis Dozier Jr. has four interceptions.
WESTFIELD STATE SPECIAL TEAMS: The Owls kicking game has been shored up by Danny Farrell, who booted another extra point last week. Senior Shane Clark and first-year Owen Thompson have split the punting duties.
WORCESTER STATE ON OFFENSE: Quarterback Aaron Moses-Williams is the key to the Lancers attack. He's thrown for 1,818 yards this year with 13 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He spreads the ball around to a handful of receivers, led by Ke'Vaughn Davis who has 58 receptions for 947 yards and 11 touchdowns. Deion Osei-Sarpong has 31 catches for 368 yards, and four other receivers also have 10 or more catches on the year. Senior Amir Mells is the top rusher for the Lancers with 188 yards for the season.
WORCESTER STATE ON DEFENSE: The Lancers defense yields opponents 423 yards and nearly 45 points per game. Junior DB Mason Broyles is the top tackler on the club with 58 stops, and has broken up four passes. Senior Noah Peterson is next with 57 tackles, an interception, and four pass break ups as well. Sophomore defensive linemen Jayden Caron has a pair of sacks.
WORCESTER STATE SPECIAL TEAMS: Junior Kyle Wall handles both punting and kicking duties for the Lancers, averaging 31 yards per punt and he's 2-4 on field goal tries and 13-19 on extra points.
