WESTFIELD, Mass. - Twelve members of the Westfield State University field hockey team were named to the Little East Conference 2016 All-Academic team.
The Little East Conference announced the 2016 Fall All-Academic teams today, honoring 280 student-athletes in its seven fall championship sports, men's cross country, women's cross country, field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
Westfield State Owls honored include
Brittany Bowes (Leicester, Mass.),
Holly Brouillette (Burlington, Mass.),
Rachel Bunce (East Dennis, Mass. / Dennis-Yarmouth),
Julia Davis (Somerset, Mass. / Somerset Berkley ), Page Demarest,
Meg Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.),
Kristina Economou (Worcester, Mass. / West Boylston),
Megan Evans (Enfield, Conn.),
Megan Fountaine (Scituate, Mass.),
Delaney Gembis (North Chelmsford / Chelmsford Mass),
Jordyn Gosselin (Bolton, Vt. / Mount Mansfield ) and
Alexa Whitney (Athol, Mass.).
To be named an All-Academic, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the 2016 spring semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, following the 2015-16 season. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.
The Owls finished their 2016 season 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the LEC.
