Andrade Records Hat Trick, Owls Reach Historic Win Streak
A 6-1 win over Framingham State pushed the Owls winning streak to nine games, which is a new program record.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – First-year forward Caroline Andrade (Watertown, Mass.) registered a hat trick and Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.) tallied two goals and two assists as Westfield State defeated Framingham State 6-1 in a MASCAC game from Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Owls now own the longest winning streak in program history after securing their ninth straight victory, surpassing the previous mark of eight set back in 2000. Westfield also remains undefeated in conference play, advancing to 7-0 in the MASCAC and 11-3 overall. The Rams are now 1-6 in the league and 2-10 on the season.
The Owls scored their first of the game just 1:04 into the contest set up by Andrade who gained possession at the 30-yard line before working around a Rams defender where she would center a pass to a crashing Murphy who swept home the goal for a 1-0 lead.
Murphy logged her second goal of the afternoon midway through the first. Kacey Curran (Fall River, Mass.) tracked down the loose ball then directed a pass to Murphy who lifted a shot from the right side of the shooting area past Kaitlyn Tello (Nashua, N.H.) and into the back of the cage for an early 2-0 advantage.
Westfield then turned to Andrade to extend the lead in the middle two periods. The reigning NFHCA national Offensive Player of the Week intercepted a Framingham pass in the Rams end of the field, then worked towards the net where she would fire a low shot inside the far post to push the Owls lead to three goals entering halftime.
Andrade then displayed her stickhandling prowess right out of the gate to begin the second half, scoring 20 seconds in after weaving through several Rams defenders before lacing a shot past Tello. She would cap the scoring in the game for her third marker, collecting a pass from Murphy before sending home her ninth goal of the season.
Ashley D'Elia (Watertown, Conn.) added to the Owls lead in the third period, tipping home a pass from Murphy to punctuate another dominant effort for Westfield.
Chloe Moynihan (Holyoke, Mass.) was the goal scorer for Framingham, scoring off a penalty stroke issued in the final minutes of the third quarter after flipping a shot towards the left side of the net for her third goal of the season.
The Owls held a 22-9 shots advantage over the Rams, holding Framingham to just one shot in the second and fourth frames. Olivia Labrie (Southampton, Mass.) got the start in goal for Westfield, making two saves before turning the net over to Lillian Rowell (Keene, N.H.) who made three saves, all at point blank range in a five-second span. Tello made ten saves for the Rams.
With the 2025 Owls possessing the longest winning streak in program history, Westfield State has their eyes set on another program record: the single-season win total of 13 set just last year. The Owls have five regular season games remaining plus additional postseason play as Westfield will visit Worcester State for a MASCAC game on Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.
