THIRD TIME'S A CHARM: Andrade Named Rookie of the Week
Andrade has helped spark the Owls record 12-game win streak
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year Caroline Andrade (Watertown, Mass.) picked up Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference field hockey rookie of the week honors for the third time this season, after scoring a goal with two assists in a pair of conference wins this week.
Andrade earned an assist on the Owls first goal to tie the game against Bridgewater State, then found the back of the net in a 3-1 homecoming-day win that wrapped up the #1 seed for the Owls.
Earlier in the week she tallied an assist in a 5-1 win at Anna Maria. Andrade has helped spark the Owls record 12-game win streak, as Westfield State set a school record with its 14th win of the season.
Interestingly, Andrade has not lost a scholastic game in which she has played since the start of her first year of high school. She was part of a Watertown HS team that won four straight state championships while ultimately putting together an 103-game win streak from 2019-2025. Andrade missed the first six games of the Owls season due to an injury, but has been active for the last 11 wins – scoring 10 goals with six assists in that span – adding to an already talented Owls team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
Owls' teammates Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.) and Maddy Barry (Norwood, Mass.) each earned a spot on the league's honor roll this week.
The 2025 Owls will travel to Salem State tomorrow for a 4:00 p.m. MASCAC game, where the Owls can lock up the league's regular season title with a win. Westfield will host Fitchburg State on Saturday, Nov. 1 in a 4:00 p.m. start
