Ten Owls Named to 2025 NFHCA National Academic Squad
The NFHCA National Academic Squad recognizes undergraduate students who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State University field hockey team had ten players earn academic excellence as they were named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad.
Earning a spot on the list for the Owls are: Maddy Barry (Norwood, Mass.), Kacey Curran (Fall River, Mass.), Melissa Dunn (Fairfield, Conn.), Lee Gould (Southborough, Mass.), Eliana Kaplan (North Andover, Mass.), Annalise Lopes (Plymouth, Mass.), Kaleigh Murphy (Pembroke, Mass.), Alyssa Reynolds (Somers, Conn.), Lillian Rowell (Keene, N.H.), and Sadie Stauffer (Suffield, Conn.).
Barry and Murphy were both highlighted as earning status on the NFHCA National Academic Squad in all four years, playing a pivotal role in the team's success on the field as MASCAC All-Conference recipients while also maintaining high academic standards throughout their four years at Westfield State.
The NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by NFHCA member coaches. The NFHCA recognized more than 1,800 outstanding undergraduate student-athletes from 147 member institutions.
Westfield State's success in the classroom also carried over into the team's achievements on the field as the Owls went on a record-breaking run in 2025, winning their second consecutive MASCAC Championship title while setting the single season win record by finishing the season 18-4. The Owls also recorded the longest winning streak in program history with 16 consecutive victories among many other team and individual accomplishments.
