Men’s Basketball to Face D-1 Dartmouth College on Wednesday, November 15
After a successful weekend in the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Classic, men’s basketball will travel to face the Big Green out of the Division-One Ivy League conference on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. from Hanover, N.H.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After winning a pair of weekend games to begin the season in the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Classic, men's basketball will travel to NCAA Division I Dartmouth College out of the Ivy League Conference for a regular season contest on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. from Leede Arena in Hanover, N.H.
For Westfield, it is the first regular-season meeting against a Division I opponent since the 1999-2000 season when the Owls faced Quinnipiac University. In the game, Kris Kachelmeyer led Westfield with 17 points while current George Washington men's basketball head coach Chris Caputo was a reserve player for the Owls. Westfield also faced Quinnipiac in the 1998-99 season as well.
More recently, the Owls played against UMass in an exhibition game to begin the 2018-19 campaign, falling 84-60.
Westfield State (2-0) is fresh off a 94-76 win over Ramapo College on Saturday in the second day of the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Classic from the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass. The Owls opened the regular season with a victory over William Paterson, 86-66 on Friday night.
Senior forward Brendon Hamilton (Worcester, Mass.) turned in a productive weekend, including a 21-point effort on Saturday where he set the program single-game field goal efficiency record by connecting on all ten of his field goal attempts in the game. He also added 16 rebounds and swatted four shots en route to being named to the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn All-Classic Team. Hamilton enters the Dartmouth game just 15 points shy of 1,000 for his career at Westfield State.
Junior guard Lid Moreland (Bridgeport, Conn.) steadied the Owls offense through both games. A transfer from Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y., Moreland averaged 13.5 points and five assists across both games for Westfield.
Big Green enters the contest after falling to Duke University, the ninth-ranked D-1 team in the nation, and UMass Lowell. Dartmouth is led by senior forward Dusan Neskovic (Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina) who is averaging 14.5 points per game on the season.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with stats for the game also available on ESPN.com or in the ESPN app.
