Kenney Rogers Earns MASCAC Player of the Week Honors
Rogers averaged 24.5 points, seven rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore forward Kenney Rogers (Springfield, Mass./Springfield International Charter School) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week for the week ending February 8, after leading the Owls to a pair of conference wins on the week.
It's the second time this season that Rogers has been tapped for the weekly award.
Rogers averaged 24.5 points, seven rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Owls won a pair of games to take sole possession of first place in the MASCAC. He turned in a fine all-around game with 23 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals as the Owls topped Worcester State, 84-72 to take control of the conference race, and backed that performance up with 26 points and eight boards in a 95-76 revenge win over MCLA on Saturday.
Rogers has compiled 912 career points in less than two years at Westfield State.
The Owls are 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the MASCAC. The Owls win at Worcester gave Westfield sole possession of first place in the league standings, a game up on the Lancers with the tie-breaker in hand by sweeping Worcester in the season series.
Westfield will next play at Anna Maria College in a conference game on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
