Owls Tee Off 2025 With Win Over MCLA
Both teams were tuning up for the 2025 MASCAC Championships, which will be played this weekend at Blissful Meadows GC in Uxbridge, Mass.
WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State University men's golf teed off on the 2025 season on Wednesday, topping MCLA 339-345 in a dual match at Taconic GC in Williamstown, Mass.
Owls newcomers led the way, as Aidan Asher (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) shot the low round for the Owls with a 82, followed by Nathan Copetas (Maynard, Mass.) with an 83.
MCLA's Cody White fired the low score of the day with a 79 on the historic par-71 track that plays 6,808 from the tips.
The course was a 1927 Stiles & Van Kleek design, updated in 2009 by Gil Hanse. The course has hosted the NCAA Division I, II and III Championships, and three US Amateur Championships, including the 1956 US Junior Amateur which featured a young Jack Nicklaus. The course hosted US Open Qualifying rounds in 2022.
