Two Starts, Two MASCAC Weekly Honors for Esteban Gauthier
Men’s ice hockey first-year goaltender Esteban Gauthier (Sainte-Julie, Quebec) has earned his second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors with his win in a start versus Fitchburg State this past week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – First-year goaltender Esteban Gauthier (Sainte-Julie, Quebec) has earned his second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors with his win in a start versus Fitchburg State this past week.
Gauthier got the nod against the Falcons on Saturday, and he did not disappoint. In the game, the Falcons shot on net 41 times against Gauthier as he only let one past. Gauthier produced a 1.00 GAA and a .976 save percentage in just his second collegiate start.
Gauthier only has two starts on the season but has been honored with the award for both starts. The goalie has already tallied 97 saves, a .960 save percentage, a 2.00 GAA, and a 2-0 record with one coming against a MASCAC opponent.
Gauthier and the Owls head to Dartmouth on Thursday, January 23 as they take on the Corsairs for a MASCAC matchup, puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
