Board, one of the Owls captains, has tallied nine goals and nine assists for 18 points through 22 games this season.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University junior forward Cooper Board (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Seacoast Spartans (EHL)) was recently named as a semifinalist for the 24th annual Joe Concannon Award as the best American-born hockey player in New England Division II and III ice hockey.
Board, one of the Owls captains, has tallied nine goals and nine assists for 18 points through 22 games this season.
In three seasons with the Owls, he has tallied 31 goals and 25 assists for 56 points in 75 games played.
Board is one of 40 semifinalists from 32 New England collegiate teams.
The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.
Board becomes the fourth Owl named as a semifinalist for the Concannon Award. Gianluca Marini was highlighted in 2024, along with program alumni Jackson Leef, and Dennis Zak earlier in the program's history.
Board and the Owls (11-11) have three regular-season games remaining this season, including Saturday, February 15 at Salem State with a 6:00 p.m. start at the Rockett Arena.
