Westfield State's Nick Parakilas scored a pair of goals in the first 53 minutes of the match to stake the Owls to a 2-0 lead, but the Salem State Vikings came roaring back late to tie the Owls 2-2 at Alumni Field in Salem, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.
Salem State's Kaden Yoder netted the game tying goal with 32 seconds left in regulation time, with an assist credited to Stephane Fevry.
Westfield is now 4-1-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. Salem moves to 2-3-2 overall and 0-1-2 in the league.
The Vikings out-shot the Owls 15-9 in the match, and had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Westfield got 11 saves from Marko Kononenko, while Salem's Marcelo Silva finished with four saves. Parakilas leads the Owls with nine goals through six matches this season - more than any Owls' player has scored in a full season in over a decade.
