TWICE AS NICE: Parakilas, Kononenko Repeat As Conference Players of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Westfield State University's Nick Parakilas (Broad Brook, Conn./East Windsor) and Marko Kononenko (Kyiv, Ukraine/Monument Mountain) have earned the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for men's soccer.
Parakilas tallied four goals and an assist on the week, finding the net twice with an assist in a 4-0 win over Rivier, and tacked on two more goals in the Owls 2-2 draw on the road at Salem State. For the season, Parakilas already has nine goals and two assists for 20 points on the season. Parakilas was tied for 10th in the nation in NCAA D3 in goals scored in the most recent stats.
Kononenko needed just five saves to post the shutout over Rivier, then made 11 stops to preserve the 2-2 tie at Salem. Posted a .889 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA for the week. He is 4-0-1 as the Owls starter and has a miniscule 0.73 GAA for the season.
