WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State men's soccer tied Vermont State Castleton on Monday night with neither team finding the back of the net in a non-conference match from Castleton, Vt.
The Owls are now 6-3-4 on the season while the Spartans are now 5-8-1.
Westfield held the upper hand from a statistical standpoint throughout the match, holding an 18-3 shots advantage while keeping the Spartans away from the net entirely in the first half with no shots. The Owls also added eight corner kicks to the Spartans one.
Xander Berthiaume made ten saves for the Spartans, six of which came in the second half. Marko Kononenko (Kyiv, Ukraine) made two stops for the Owls.
Carter Hebert (Easthampton, Mass.) had four shots on goal while Nick Parakilas (Broad Brook, Conn.) added three shots on net.
Westfield State will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Framingham State in a MASCAC match at 2:00 P.M. from Framingham.
