Parakilas Named Offensive Player of the Year, Owls Place Five on All-Conference Team
Parakilas was a first team selection while four additional Owls earned second team honors.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior forward Nick Parakilas (Broad Brook, Conn.) was announced as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Year as the Owls placed five players on the 2025 All-Conference teams this season.
Parakilas earned first team honors while seniors' Carter Hebert (Easthampton, Mass.) and Enzo Mazza (East Longmeadow, Mass.), junior Charlie Anischik (South Hadley, Mass.), and sophomore Marko Kononenko (Kyiv, Ukraine) all earned second team honors.
Parakilas delivered an exceptional season for the Owls, finishing the year with the second-most goals in Division III with 22 while adding four assists for a total of 48 points. The 48 points ranks third in Division III. The 22 goals in a single season is tied for fifth in program history.
Nine times during the season, the senior forward netted two of more goals, including a season-best four goal output in a win over Framingham. In the MASCAC Semifinal match against Mass. Maritime, Parakilas scored both of the Owls goals.
Hebert was selected to the all-conference second team as a midfielder. The Easthampton native tallied six goals and four assists for a total of 16 points which was third on the team. In his four-year career with Westfield, Hebert scored 18 goals and registered 14 assists for 50 points.
Mazza and Anischik join Hebert as a pair of all-conference second team defenders. Mazza, a transfer from Endicott College, teamed up with his brother Sonny for his final season, serving as an important piece in the back line for the Owls while providing a pair of long-distance assists to Parakilas during the Owls victory at Framingham during the season. Anischik played in 17 games for the Owls and was another anchor in the back, collecting one goal and one assist during the season.
In just his sophomore season, Kononenko was named to an all-conference second team as one of two goalies honored. In 13 games played, Kononenko led the MASCAC with a 0.91 goals against average and an .857 save percentage, compiling a 6-1-2 overall record.
The Owls finished the season with a 10-4-4 overall record, advancing into the MASCAC Tournament as the third seed where they would defeat Worcester State 3-0 in a conference first round match, advancing into the semifinals where their season would end on the road against second-seeded Mass. Maritime.
