Men's Track and Field Competes at Dartmouth December Invitational
Westfield State’s John Nekitopolous (West Springfield, Mass.) and Daniel Shea (Longmeadow, Mass.) both had top three finishes in the Dartmouth December Invite track and field meet for Westfield State in Hanover, N.H. on Saturday.
WESTFIELD, Mass. — Westfield State's John Nekitopolous (West Springfield, Mass.) and Daniel Shea (Longmeadow, Mass.) both had top three finishes in the Dartmouth December Invite track and field meet for Westfield State in Hanover, N.H. on Saturday.
Nekitopolous finished in second place in the men's one mile run with a time of 4:22.11, behind only Division-I Vermont's James Cilwik with a time of 4:15.36.
Another big event for the Owls was the men's 3000 meter run as we saw nine of the top 14 runners were Owls. This race for Westfield State was headlined by two top five finishers in Nate Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) in fourth and Scott Porter (Boylston, Mass.) in fifth.
From the field Shea showed out in men's long jump as he captured a podium finish as he earned third place with a distance of 6.28 meters. Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) also secured a top three finish for Westfield as he got third in men's weight throw with a distance of 13.86 meters.The final Owl with a top three finish was Ali Warsame (Chelsea, Mass.) as he finished third in men's triple jump with a distance of 12.16 meters.
Gordon Johnson ran a qualifying time for New England D3 Championships in the 800 meters.
The Westfield State men's track and field will take a break for the holiday season and return back in action with their next scheduled event coming on Saturday, January 18 as they head to the first Coast Guard Winter Invite Meet.
