Nekitopoulos, Pinsly Earn MASCAC Weekly Honors
Westfield State track and field athletes earned a pair of honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference this week, as John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) was selected as the men’s track athlete of the week, while Bronwyn Pinsly (Las Vegas, Nev.) was tabbed as the women’s field athlete of the week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State track and field athletes earned a pair of honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference this week, as John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) was selected as the men's track athlete of the week, while Bronwyn Pinsly (Las Vegas, Nev.) was tabbed as the women's field athlete of the week.
Nekitopoulos placed second in the mile at the Dartmouth December Invitational meet on Saturday in Hanover, N.H., completing the circuit in a time of 4:22.11.
Pinsly placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.34 meters (or 37' 2.5"), which was good enough to qualify for the New England Division III Championship meet later this spring.
Westfield track and field will take a break for the holiday recess, and return to action at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Jan. 18.
