Men's Track Fares Well at Coast Guard

Westfield State's men's track and field sprint contingent turned in strong showings at the Coast Guard Invitational meet on a dreary weather day in New London, Conn. on Saturday.
Westfield's Jordan Stallworth took fourth in the 100 meters in 11.28 seconds, with teammates Theo Yetman sixth and Jace Falcone eighth as the Owls had three men score in the event that featured 36 competitors.
That trio partnered with Max Margeson to place third in the 4x100 relay in 49.48 seconds. Stallworth added a sixth place finish in the 200 in 23.28.
The Owls' distance crew wasn't to be outdone, as Nathan Sylven grabbed a second-place finish in the 5000 in 15:37.84, with Scott Porter third in 15:44 and Will Buckley sixth in 16:00.21 among 23 competitors in the event.
Other top results included Daniel Shea placing fourth in the long jump with jump of 6.63 meters, Dylan Clark taking fourth in the shot put with a toss of 12.98 meters, and Rowan Gottschall came home fifth in the 800 in 2:00.82.
Westfield finished seventh among 10 scoring teams as the Owls prep for their home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational next Saturday, April 12 at the Gravel Track and Alumni Field. Select Owls athletes will also run at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday, April 11.
