Warsame Wins TJ at UMass Last Chance Meet
Warsame posted a best mark of 13.65 meters
WESTFIELD, Mass. --- Westfield State's Ali Warsame (Chelsea, Mass.) and Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) competed at the UMass Amherst Last Chance qualifier meet on Thursday afternoon in an attempt to improve their seeds prior to the selection of the field for the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships
Warsame posted a best mark of 13.65 meters (44'-9.5") which was good enough to win the event at the meet, but short of his season best set last week at the All-New England meet. He currently sits in 25th place (pending late results from other last chance meets) on the national performance list, which would require three defections from the top 22 to give him the opportunity to compete at the national championship meet.
Lee second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.51 meters (37'- 9.25") and fifth in the long jump at 5.30 meters (17'-4.75"). Neither mark improved on her season bests. She sits in 32nd place on the long jump performance list and 36th place on the triple jump, which will most likely end her season just outside the NCAA championship field.
