Westfield State's men's track and field team was led by a pair of event winners at the Yellow Jacket Invitational meet at the John Hoyt '52 Track and Field Complex at American International College on Saturday.
Braedan Ramsey captured the 3000-meter steeplechase title in 10:07.33, while senior John Ware delivered a standout performance in the field, winning the javelin with a throw of 56.77 meters.
Other top results came in the 5000 meters, where Tyler Meunier placed second in 16:59.98, just ahead of teammate Rodrigo Miranda in third (17:00.49), while Ryan Anderson added a fourth-place finish in 18:50.85. Westfield State also earned a podium finish in the 800 meters, as Rowan Gottshall took third in 2:03.39, and first-year William Child added a third-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:35.63).
On the sprint side, the 4x100-meter relay team of Eric Lu, Jace Falcone, Marcus Stallworth, and Jordan Stallworth placed third in 44.48.
In the field events, Xavier Merkman secured a runner-up finish in the discus throw with a mark of 42.88 meters, while Daniel Shea placed fourth in the long jump at 6.09 meters. Devan Cerone also tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters, as the Owls showcased depth across multiple event groups.
Westfield will next compete at the Coast Guard Academy Spring Invitational on April 4 before Westfield hosts its home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational at the Gravel Track on Saturday, April 11.
