Senior Rowan Gottschall was the first member of the Westfield State University men's cross country team to hit the wire, placing 27th at the George Suitor Invitational meet hosted by Trinity College on Saturday at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn.
Gotschall tripped the hilly 5,000-meter course in 17:34.
Lorcan Bergeron was next in 17:55 in 44th place, followed by Andrew Organ in 18:32 in 61st.
Eight teams and 100 athletes contested the meet, which was won by Tufts University with 34 points, followed by Conn College in second at 38, and host Trinity third with 83. Westfield was sixth with 181 points.
The Owls will travel to the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational meet next Saturday.
