Men’s Cross Country Races in UMass Dartmouth Invitational
Westfield State men’s cross country finished 21st overall at the expansive 52nd UMass Dartmouth Invitational from Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State men's cross country finished 21st overall at the expansive 52nd UMass Dartmouth Invitational from Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.
In a race featuring programs from the Division I, II, and III levels, the Owls were eighth out of Division III teams competing at the meet. A total of 32 teams competed at the meet.
Despite losing his shoe 800 meters into the race, Nate Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) delivered the top performance of the meet for Westfield, finishing 88th of 253 runners with a time of 26:35.95. Lorcan Bergeron (Medway, Mass.) was second to cross the finish line for Westfield, finishing with a personal best time of 27:16.58, a two-minute and eight second difference from his previous best.
Braedan Ramsey (Plainville, Conn.), who recently won the MASCAC Rookie of the Week, was third to cross the tape for the Owls in a time of 27:37.94.
Boston University won the meet with 60 points, followed by UMass Lowell (98pts) and Brown (104pts). Liam Lyons from Holy Cross was first to finish individually with a time of 24:07.69.
Westfield State will be off next weekend, then will travel to the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 4.
