Sylven Paces Owls at Connecticut College Invite
Sylven delivered a 17th place showing at the Connecticut College Invite on Saturday afternoon in a race featuring seven nationally ranked programs.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior Nate Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) finished 17th in the men's 8k white race as the Owls competed at both the Connecticut College Invite and the Western New England Invitational on Saturday.
Sylven crossed the tape at a time of 25:44.99 in a field of 364 runners. First-year athletes Drew Organ (Suffield, Conn.) and Braedan Ramsey (Plainville, Conn.) were second and third home for Westfield with Organ placing 104th in a time of 27:06.90 followed by Ramsey in 178th (27:57.58).
As a team, the Owls were 18th of 37 teams in a race featuring seven nationally ranked teams. Ninth-ranked Tufts, fourth-ranked NYU, and eighth-ranked Williams tied for first in the white race with 65 points. The Owls finished with 557 points to secure a top 20 spot.
At the Western New England Invite, rookie James Segatore (West Brookfield, Mass.) led the Owls with a 108th place finish in a time of 31:03.48.
Today's competitions served as terrific tune-ups for the Owls upcoming MASCAC Championship meet where on Saturday, November 1 – Hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
