Softball Places Five on CSC Academic All-District Teams
Bingham, Canty, Ciampa and Wodecki are repeat selections for the Owls having been named in 2024 as well, with Hough being selected to the team for the first time.
WESTFIELD, Mass. --- Westfield State University softball placed five student athletes on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All District team.
The Owls' Sarah Bingham (Reno, Nev. / Wooster), Katherine Canty (Natick, Mass.), Christina Ciampa (Rockville, Conn./Vernon-Rockille), Sarah Hough (Southwick, Mass.) and Hannah Wodecki (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire) were all tabbed for the team
Bingham, Canty, Ciampa and Wodecki are repeat selections for the Owls having been named in 2024 as well, with Hough being selected to the team for the first time.
The quintet helped lead the Owls to a program-record 32 wins and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title this season.
Bingham graduated as the Owls all-time leading home run hitter with 17, and batted .339, with four home runs, 10 doubles and 34 RBI while earning all-conference honors for the second straight year.
Canty was previously tabbed as the MASCAC's pitcher of the year award. She finished the season with a 13-4 record, a1.60 earned run average, and struck out 101 while walking just 15 in 96.1 innings pitched.
Ciampa was named to the MASCAC All-Conference team for a fourth straight season, being recognized as the designated player on the first team. She led the team by batting .462 with 11 doubles and three triples.
Wodecki broke her own single season hits record with 64 this season, finishing with a .435 average, 4 home runs, 15 doubles and 37 RBI and was named as a first-team all-conference selection.
Hough anchored the Owls infield defense at shortstop and was right on Wodecki's heels in the race for the team lead with hits with 61, and finished the year batting .415 with three home runs, 16 doubles and 37 runs batted in.
The 2025 Academic All-District softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Students must have reached sophomore status, maintained a 3.5 or better grade point average, and been significant contributors on the field in order to be selected to the Academic All-District team.
Select Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.
