Owls Softball Places Five on CSC Academic All-District Teams
Sophomore infielder Rylie Camacho and pitcher Angelina Vartuli, junior pitcher Joss Mettey, and senior infielders Sarah Hough and Hannah Wodecki were all named to the team.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University softball placed five athletes on the 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Sophomore infielder Rylie Camacho and pitcher Angelina Vartuli, junior pitcher Joss Mettey, and senior infielders Sarah Hough and Hannah Wodecki were all named to the team.
Camacho, a psychology and Spanish major from Attleboro, Mass. sported a .358 batting average with three home runs and 19 rbi, scoring 43 runs from the leadoff spot in the batting order. She posted a .483 on-base percentage and drew a school-record 29 walks this season. She was named as a first-team MASCAC All-Conference pick.
Vartuli, a management major from Middletown, Conn., ranks fifth in the nation in NCAA D3 with a 0.92 earned run average. She was named the MASCAC pitcher of the year, posting a 14-1 record with four saves in 20 games pitched this season.
Mettey, an elementary education major from Easthampton, Mass., pitched to a 13-1 record with a 3.25 ERA in 16 starts this season, earning a win in the NCAA Tournament in the Owls 2-1, first round win over Cortland State. She was a second-team All-MASCAC selection this year.
Hough, a psychology major from Southwick, finishes her four-year career as the Owls all-time leader in at ats (491), doubles (46) and hits (184). She batted .377 with 11 home runs and 52 runs batted in while playing a strong defensive shortstop, and was named as the 2026 MASCAC player of the year.
And Wodecki, a nursing major from Easthampton, will graduate as the program's all-time leader in home runs with 18. Wodecki finished the year with a team-high 59 hits, a .418 batting average and six home runs and 48 runs scored. She was a first-team all-conference selection for the third straight season.
That fivesome helped power the Owls to a 39-3 overall record, MASCAC regular-season and tournament titles, and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1983.
In order to to be honored, athletes must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade-point average in the classroom, and be a significant on-field contributor to their team's success.
Select athletes from the All-District teams advance to the national Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16, 2026.
