Williams Gets 7th Rookie of the Week Nod

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year guard Octaviana Williams (Springfield, Mass./Minnechaug HS) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference rookie of the week for the week ending February 19, 2023.
Williams was named the circuit's outstanding rookie for the seventh time this season.
She narrowly missed a career-best with 15 points and matched a career high with seven steals in the Owls' 79-54 win over the Fitchburg State University Falcons last Saturday. Williams added five rebounds and a pair of assists, and shot 7-8 at the foul line.
Williams, a 5-4 guard, is averaging 6.0 points per game, ranks second on the team with 6.1 rebounds and leads the Owls with 2.9 steals per game.
Westfield (16-9) finished tied for second in the MASCAC's regular season standings and will be the #3 seed in the MASCAC Tournament. The Owls host #6 MCLA tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal round game.
