Grant Named MASCAC Player of the Week After Career-High Night
Westfield State senior forward Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine) dropped a career-high 36 points in a 117-60 win over Fitchburg State this past Wednesday to earn the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior forward Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine) dropped a career-high 36 points in a 117-60 win over Fitchburg State this past Wednesday to earn the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
Grant scored at will on Wednesday as she posted a career-high 36 on 16-22 shooting for a 72.7% shooting percentage. She also pulled down ten rebounds and added four steals to what was a dominant night for the senior out of Gray, Maine.
Grant has now vaulted herself into a tie for first in points per game in the conference with 17.6 per game. Grant is also first in the MASCAC in field goal percentage as she averages 51.8 percent shooting from the field. Grant had four steals against the Falcons to push her average per game to 2.5, which is sixth in the league.
The career-high effort brought Grant's four-year point total up to 1,440 points which is sixth on the all-time scoring list, 37 points behind Jill Valley '17 as a top five scorer in the history of the program.
Grant and the Owls will head to Bridgewater State on Wednesday, February 19 for a 7:30 pm tip-off against their conference rivals in a matchup featuring the league's top scorers in Grant and Kylie Grassi. Playoff implications will be on the line in the contest for the Owls.
