Owls Women's Golf Opens Season with WSU Invitational Meet
Ashley Ames led the Owls in 24th place
Westfield State women's golf placed sixth as the Owls hosted the Westfield State Invitational at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, Mass. on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls shot 442 as a team in the season-opening event. Ashley Ames led the Owls in 24th place with a score of 106, one stroke ahead of teammate Julie Gleason.
Suffolk's Krisna Mahendron won the tournament with a 3-over 74 on the 5,600-yard, par 71 layout designed by Donald Ross and Geoffrey Cornish.
Suffolk rolled to the team title with a score of 331, 35 strokes better than Nichols College in second place.
Westfield will next compete at the Keene State Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 28.
