Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at LEC Championship
Julie Gleason finished in a tie for 12th place individually to lead Westfield State women’s golf to a fifth place team showing.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Julie Gleason (Houston, Texas) finished in a tie for 12th place individually to lead Westfield State women's golf to a fifth place team showing at the inaugural LEC Championship meet from Valley Country Club in Warwick, R.I. on Thursday and Friday.
Gleason improved her position by six spots from day one to two and finished with a 201 to tie for 12th individually. She was nine strokes better on day two, finishing the championship strong for Westfield. Dorothy Duval (Williamsburg, Mass.) carded the second lowest score on the two-day tournament for the Owls, posting a 210 for 18th place.
The Owls had a combined team score of 303 over par, placing fifth as a team. Keene State won the tournament by finishing 153 over par. The Owls were sixth after day one, then shaved 11 strokes off their team score on day two to move into fifth overall.
Remy Levin of Southern Maine was the individual champion by finishing at +26.
