Conley, Roncarati Earn MASCAC Weekly Honors
Izzy Conley was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week while Christina Roncarati receives her second conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State women's lacrosse duo of Izzy Conley (North Salem, N.Y.) and Christina Roncarati (East Longmeadow, Mass.) earned conference honors this past week during their spring break trip as Conley was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week while Roncarati earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Conley posted a 60.8 save percentage and a 10.00 goals against, totaling 31 saves in a 1-1 week for the Owls at the SpringFling Tournament in Panama City Beach, Florida. She made 16 saves for Westfield in an 18-10 victory over Plymouth State, then kept the Owls within striking distance against NESCAC opponent Hamilton, stopping 15 shots on net in a 10-6 setback.
In six games played this season, the senior goalkeeper leads the MASCAC with 90 saves and is second in the conference with a 50.6 save percentage, shouldering a heavy workload in between the posts against a challenging non-conference slate of games.
Roncarati scored 13 goals across a pair of games for the Owls in her second conference offensive player of the week honors this season. The graduate attacker carried the offense in the win against Plymouth, scoring eight goals before adding five markers against Hamilton.
On the season, Roncarati is the current goals leader in the MASCAC, potting 26 goals in six games which is nine goals ahead of the next closest player. She is second overall in the league with 27 points.
Westfield State (2-4) settles into a three-game homestand starting on Wednesday against another challenging non-conference opponent as the Owls host 11th ranked Colby College at 5:00 P.M. from Alumni Field in Westfield, Mass.
