WESTFIELD, Mass. – 19th-ranked Williams College ran out to a big lead early en route to a 19-4 win over Westfield State University in a non-conference game at Farley-Lamb Field in Williamstown, Mass. on Tuesday evening.
Williams improved to 8-3 with the win, while Westfield moves to 5-6 on the season. Three of the Owls' six losses this season have come to teams that have been ranked or received votes in the national poll this season.
The Ephs sprinted out to a 13-0 halftime lead.
Westfield tallied three straight to close the third quarter, with Christina Roncarati, Mercedes Rozzi and Bri McPhillips all finding the back of the net for the Owls. Rozzi's goal was her 25th of the season and good for the 100th point of her career.
Marena Morales netted a goal in the fourth for the final margin.
Williams was led by three goals each from Franny Donahue, CeCe Tauber and Sydney Puntus.
The Ephs held a 40-11 advantage in total shots in the game.
Westfield will return to conference play on Saturday, hosting Bridgewater State at noon on Alumni Field.
