Tomasetti Tabbed MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week
Tomasetti earns MASCAC honors for the second consecutive week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. –Westfield State sophomore Kylie Tomasetti (Northborough, Mass.) received Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly honors this past week as being recognized as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
In Friday's match against conference foe MCLA, Tomasetti helped anchor the Owls defensive zone in a 4-0 win over the Trailblazers, only allowing one shot. Tomasetti tallied an assist in the match as well, providing the Owls a three-goal lead to close out an unbeaten conference season at 6-0-2, a first round bye, and the second overall seed in the MASCAC Tournament.
For Tomasetti, this is back-to-back weeks in which she has earned conference honors as she was named this MASCAC's offensive player of the week before.
Serving as a sweeper in the back of the Owls defense, Tomasetti is also top three in points for Westfield with three goals and two assists. She is a key contributor to an Owls defense that also posted six shutouts against conference opponents, allowing one goal in each of the other two matches during the regular season.
Coming up for the Owls is a date in the conference semifinals on Friday, November 7 as kickoff begins at 7:00pm on Alumni Field against the highest remaining seed of matches played in the opening round which will begin on Wednesday.
