Richter, Banagan Earn Little East Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State University's Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) and Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) were named the Little Conference's Swimmer of the Week, and Diver of the Week, respectively, for the week ending October 20.
Richter had a big week in the pool, winning the USJ pentathlon on Friday, then bouncing back with a pair of event wins on Sunday at Simmons.
On Friday, Richter posted the fastest times of the day in the 50 backstroke (29.85) the 50 freestyle (26.18) and the 100 individual medley (1:05.32).
A total of 41 swimmers competed in a total of five events (hence, the pentathlon) adding the 50 butterfly and the 50 breaststroke. Richter's combined time of 3:03.84 was more than three full seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
On Sunday, Richter stopped the clock in 26.32 in the 50 freestyle, and 5:40.34 in winning the 500 freestyle in a dual meet at Simmons College in Boston.
Banagan took the top spot in the diving events at Simmons on Sunday, scoring 193.72 on the 1-meter board, and 181.05 on the 3-meter board.
She was also the top diver at USJ Pentathlon meet, scoring 191.00 on the 1-meter board.
